ABOUT THIS BLOG

This blog is my way of communicating a strong desire to attend the National Convention in Denver on behalf of Idaho and in favor of Barack Obama.  There are so many people in Idaho who have become dedicated and passionate Obama supporters.  Many of these folks are delegates to this convention and have put in countless hours of work on the ground, on the phone, in the office, in other states, all night-long, and they are still pushing forward!  I admire these people and will create a section on this blog to highlight some of those folks whose efforts are very apparent to me.

I have not been one of these foot warriors as I like to think of them.  My support has, due to circumstances and preference, been a little different. During the early democratic primary debates I focused intensely on all the candidates, but rather quickly Obama stood out for me.  Soon, I knew he was the right choice and by December I had committed my heart and soul to his candidacy.  I have a family and had just started a new job, so I felt limited in my ability to offer support.  I have given small amounts to the campaign several times, but that didn’t feel like enough.  In March I started blogging for the first time.  While that blog covers a range of topics, often deeply personal and family oriented, I also use it to write about my main interest: politics. It soon became the perfect venue for me to express my support of Obama and describe various aspects of this particular presidential race.  During this time I also volunteered at the Ada County Caucus in Boise and ran for State Delegate.  I was elected as an Obama state delegate from CD2.

This new blog is my way to communicate with other delegates why I would be honored to go to Denver.  I also hope it will be a forum for strategizing and celebrating as we move towards the National Convention.  I welcome comments and networking and invite you to start your own blog–it is a really great medium of free speech.  I will use this blog as a way to document the State Convention and anticipate blogging several times a day on different aspects of the convention.  If I am elected as National Delegate I promise to blog regularly from Denver so that those who cannot attend can experience the excitement via this blog and those who are present can share in my perspectives.  Changing consciousness takes approaching that change from multiple angles.  I see my writing as a political act and I hope you will choose to partake.
